Frequently asked questions

Ordering, payment, delivery and returns — the questions we are asked most often.

Am I charged when I place the order?

No. Checkout records the order and reserves the stock. We email you to confirm availability and the final total, and payment happens from that email. No card is charged on this website, and card details typed at checkout are validated in your browser and never stored or transmitted.

Which colour temperature should I choose?

Warmer tones around 2700K suit living rooms and bedrooms, where you want the light to feel soft. Cooler tones nearer 4000K suit kitchens, bathrooms and workspaces where you want to see detail clearly. If a room does both jobs, 3000K is the usual compromise.

How many lumens does a room need?

It depends on the room size, the ceiling height and what the space is used for, so there is no single answer. Send us the dimensions and we will suggest a range rather than guess at a number here.

Do I need an electrician?

Changing a bulb, no. Installing or replacing a ceiling fitting involves mains wiring, and we would always recommend a qualified electrician for that. The rules vary by country, so check what applies where you live before you start.

Are these fittings dimmable?

Some are and some are not, and a dimmable lamp also needs a compatible dimmer switch. Ask us about a specific item before ordering if dimming matters — a non-dimmable LED on a dimmer will flicker or buzz.

Will an LED bulb fit my existing lamp?

Usually, provided the cap matches. E27 and E14 screw fittings and B22 bayonet are the common ones. Check the shade too: some LED bulbs are slightly longer than the bulbs they replace and can sit proud of a small shade.

What does CRI mean and should I care?

Colour rendering index describes how truly colours show under the light. Ra 90 and above makes skin, wood and fabric look close to how they do in daylight. It matters most in rooms where you look at things closely and least in a hallway.

How is glass packed?

Glass and ceramic pieces are boxed with proper protection and every fitting is inspected before it leaves us. If something arrives damaged, photograph it and email us within 48 hours — see shipping & returns.
