Delivery, returns & installation
Standard delivery is $5.95 and typically arrives within 3–6 working days. Express is $12.95 and typically arrives within 1–3. Orders over $75.00 ship free on the standard service.
You have 30 days to return an unused item in its original packaging. Installing or replacing a ceiling fitting involves mains wiring, and we would always recommend a qualified electrician for that. Rules vary by country, so check what applies where you live.
What it is for
A cage pendant is not really a shade. The frame is decorative and the light goes wherever it likes, which is exactly what you want somewhere you are passing through rather than sitting in.
Hallways and stairwells are the usual case. A shaded pendant hung in a stairwell either sits too low to walk under or ends up lighting only the step directly beneath it. An open frame lights the walls and the ceiling as well, which is what makes a narrow space feel navigable.
One caveat: because the bulb is visible from every angle, use a frosted one. A clear filament bulb in an open cage is uncomfortable to look at from the top of the stairs.

Before you order
Which colour temperature should I choose?
Warmer tones around 2700K suit living rooms and bedrooms, where you want the light to feel soft. Cooler tones nearer 4000K suit kitchens, bathrooms and workspaces where you want to see detail clearly.
Am I charged when I place the order?
No. Checkout records your order and reserves the stock. We email you to confirm availability, the final total and delivery, and payment is completed from that email. No card is charged on this site.
How many lumens does a room need?
It depends on the room size, the ceiling height and how the space is used, so there is no single answer. Send us the dimensions and what the room is for, and we will suggest a range.
Do I need an electrician?
Changing a bulb, no. Installing or replacing a ceiling fitting involves mains wiring, and we would always recommend a qualified electrician for that. Rules vary by country, so check what applies where you live.
